(CHICAGO) U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Taylorville), who was one of the people at the scene when a gunman from Illinois opened fire on Republican lawmakers, believes it was a targeted attack.
A day after the attack that left a congressman in critical condition and three others injured, Davis says he believes that the man acted with intention.
“I can’t tell you how vulnerable I felt,” Davis tells Big John and Ramblin’ Ray on WLS. “This is somebody, who I’m hearing through reports, he [checked] out this baseball practice numerous times before, knew that we wouldn’t even have our cell phones to dial 91 so this was planned. This was a planned attack. I’ve never felt more vulnerable in my life and more terrorized.”
Davis is among three Illinois congressmen who are part of the GOP baseball team. The other two, U.S. Rep. Darin LaHood (R-Dunlap) and U.S. Rep. John Shimkus (R-Collinsville) were not at Wednesday morning’s practice.
Investigators still haven’t determined a motive for the attack or if it was premeditated.
