On Thursday, Google’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, canceled what was supposed to be an all-hands town hall meeting address the diversity controversy that has made headlines for past week. Apparently, some of the questions had been leaked.
The meeting had been called after a Google engineer had been fired after he had written an distributed who wrote a 10-page manifesto that argued a gender gap at Google existed because of “biological” differences between men and women. He also claimed that the “diverse” atmosphere of Google wasn’t open to more conservative points of view. The memo went viral, forcing Pichai to call a meeting and discuss the matter.
However, Pichai canceled the meetings, citing the personal safety of Google employees, several of whom expressed concern about online harassment they might receive if their names and questions were published elsewhere. Read more at cnet.com.
