(CHICAGO) Demonstrators are promising to show-up at Chicago’s Balbo statue this evening to demand it be removed. And because Balbo was Mussolini’s right-hand-man, the demonstrators will demand Balbo Drive be renamed.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel is sounding sympathetic.
Whaddya think? Is Chicago’s first Jewish mayor going to say anything that sounds like a defense of a facist?
A TV news producer pressed Rahm on it, the mayor responded, “You don’t have to ask me for my position on facism, thank you. I’m against facism, Ed. Take a chill-pill, will ya?”
The mayor is promising to work with the City Council on exactly how to erase Balbo’s presence in Chicago.
