(CHICAGO) In the ongoing police brutality scandal, Mayor Emanuel has decided to work together with Attorney General Lisa Madigan to get federal court supervision of reforming the Chicago Police Department.
It’s a triple-flip by the mayor. irst he was for a consent decree, then against it, and now Lisa Madigan has sued him to get him back to being for it.
When asked why he changed his mind, he finessed it, saying “…The other way to look at it, if I may, is that there’s been a change at the Justice Dept in Washington. They have walked away from what we stated. Even in January when he announced our goals with the Obama Administration, we haven’t stopped doing what we’re supposed to be doing.”
Next, the Trump Justice Department will oppose a consent decree making it look like Emanuel and Madigan are on the same side.
