(CHICAGO) Now that both sides in Springfield have actually achieved state school reform and a state budget, a leading Republican thinks they can make deals for two more big items.
Jim Durkin, the GOP leader of the House, names pension reform and a big state construction bill as two big items that could get done, saying “I believe there is a level of trust that is beginning to come back into the chamber and on to the governor’s office that we can actually get major issues done in a manner that we just did with education.”
While taping Connected to Chicago for Sunday night at 7, Durkin has a fascinating description of how the politiking went behind the scenes to get the deal done.
