(CHICAGO) In Washington, Republicans are close to finding the votes to pass the Obamacare replacement called Graham-Cassidy, but the head of the Cook County Hospital Systems, Dr. Jay Shannon says it would be a gigantic problem for Chicago.
Dr. Shannon tells WLS Graham-Cassidy “unbelievably finds a way to carve even more dollars out of Medicaid.”
He says that’s not what needs to be fixed in Obamacare, adding “The Affordable Care Act did nothing to address the run-away costs of U.S. healthcare. That is the thing that is going to eat everybody alive. It’s the reason why many of the state assemblies and the governors are nervous because it is gargantua. It will eat the entire budget.”
And he says 20 to 30% of treatments are of no or little benefit.
