(CHICAGO) Recently, one of the Chicago Board of Elections vendors had a data breach that made some personal information available publicly, but now there may be fix.
The solution is to simply stop using so much personally identifiable information. Jim Allen, at the Board of Elections, tells WLS-AM it’s going to be limited to this.
“Name and address, but if you want to verify, how old they are, but we’re going to supply the date of birth, only the year”, says Allen, “Only the last two numbers of social security. If you’re wanting to commit fraud, there’s only a one in 100 chance of getting that right.”
And something else they will stop collecting is your drivers license number.
