(CHICAGO) Sharon Fairley is leaving the Civilian Office of Police Accountability to perhaps run for Attorney General, and that raises a big question at City Hall.
As interesting as what kind of AG Sharon Fairley might be, is how big a blow to police accountability is her departure from COPA?
Here’s what Mayor Rahm Emanuel says: “The good news is, because she devoted herself over the last 18 to 22 months, we are in a stronger position. And strong enough that it’s not dependent on one individual.”
The Mayor is promising the appointment of an interim COPA leader soon.
