(CHICAGO) President Trump is demanding the border wall plus a crackdown on children fleeing Central America in exchange for letting undocumented Dreamers stay in the U.S. Bill Cameron says Mayor Emanuel and Congressman Gutierrez are pushing back hard.
No deal, says Rahm, “You don’t negotiate your values. Maybe in Washington you can be firm in your opinions and flexible on your values and your principles. Not here!”
And Congressman Gutierrez wants no part of letting Trump use the Dreamers as a bargaining chip, saying “We do not pay ransom for hostages!”
Gutierrez tells WLS-AM the standoff may last until December 9th when the current federal budget runs out of money.
