(CHICAGO) The City Council meets today and sexual harassment is on the agenda.
Right now there’s a $500 to $1,000 fine for sexual harassment, but it only applies to city employees.
Now the City Council is considering upping the fines to $1,000 to $5,000 and adding the mayor, city clerk, treasurer and the 50 aldermen to the ordinance.
In committee on Monday, the always candid northwest side alderman Nick Sposato wasn’t so sure about this, remarking “Is an alderman gonna be accused of just being nice to somebody? They could say you did a little too much, a little too much touchy-feely?”
Given the spot light on the issue, city hall watchers say it’s hard to imagine they won’t approve something.
