(CHICAGO) — One of the Democrats running for governor says it doesn’t take money to win a primary.
On with Bob Sirott and Marianne Murciano Monday on WLS, candidate Chris Kennedy says the large campaign coffers of other Democratic candidates, like billionaire J.B. Pritzker, isn’t scaring him off.
“I’m not too worried about the billionaire. I have to say I knew I was getting into it against [Gov. Bruce] Rauner in the general election, I wasn’t sure about J.B. but I made the decision knowing that there would be a lot of money spent against us in this campaign,” Kennedy said. “Money doesn’t win a Democratic primary. The Democratic voter in a primary is highly informed and they’re not getting their news from someone else’s advertising.”
As for growing Illinois economy, Kennedy says the state should look at building up research universities to attract top talents and high paying tech jobs.
