(CHICAGO) McCormick Place is claiming big improvements on three issues.
At the City Club on Wednesday, McCormick Place CEO Lori Healey boasted it’s now a “myth” that it’s too expensive to do business at McCormick Place. She said costs are now at or below the median with its competitors in 8 categories.
She also reported that the hiring of women has progressed to the point that 9 operating engineers at McCormick Place are women, adding “My favorite story is standing outside the building one day, I see this giant caisson-drilling equipment slowly rolling across Cermak and all these guys are putting plywood under the tracks so it doesn’t rip up the concrete. It gets to where it does and out the door steps this tiny blonde girl who was driving the thing!”
And while McCormick Place debt is retired by several local taxes, Healey says for the first time, no taxes are necessary to pay for operations.
