(CHICAGO) Mayor Rahm Emanuel is defending his embattled Chicago Public School CEO Forrest Claypool.
The CPS Inspector General is reportedly recommending Claypool be fired for interfering in an ethics investigation of Claypool. Claypool has apologized for altering an invoice and
Emanuel argues the good outweighs the bad, saying “His actions were on behalf of getting fair funding from the state after decades of not having fair funding for the children of the city of Chicago. Two, he acknowledged where he made a mistake and took responsibility for it. That is a sign of character and he did it in a very public way.
When it was noted that Claypool took responsibility after he got caught in a cover-up, the Mayor walked away.
