Judge rules against group trying to stop expansion of publicly funded abortions

(SPRINGFIELD) In Springfield this afternoon, a judge has ruled against pro-life groups trying to stop an expansion of publicly-funded abortions for the poor.

Pro-life groups asked the judge to slap an injunction on more public funds for abortions, but she said no. The ruling appeared to be in line with Governor Rauner’s thinking when he signed House Bill 40 in September.

“No woman should be forced to make a different decision than another woman would make purely based on her income”, the judge ruled, “I believe a woman living on limited financial means should not be put in a position where she has to choose something different than a woman with a higher income would be able to choose.”
But the Thomas Moore Society will appeal the ruling, thereby keeping the issue burning for State Representative Jeanne Ives March 20th Republican primary challenge to Governor Rauner
