(CHICAGO) The election for Chicago mayor is a year away, but former Chicago Public Schools CEO Paul Vallas is sounding like he’ll challenge Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
Paul Vallas has all-but-announced for mayor, saying “#1 I want to run and #2 I intend to run if I have the means.”
Vallas doesn’t think he’ll need as many millions as Mayor Emanuel will have, in part, because people now him, noting “There’s enough people who know me. I go to the airport, people recognize me. I go to the county jail, people recognize me. I went to the toll booth at the airport and somebody recognized me!”
And he says people are fed up with all of the new taxes and fees, “Working families are just getting killed financially! Let’s talk about property tax burden. Let’s talk about sales tax. Let’s talk about sewer fees. Let’s talk about cell phone taxes. Let’s just go thru the litany!”
Vallas says he’ll make a final decision in a couple of months.
