(CHICAGO) The growing harassment scandal swirling around all-powerful Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan has some wondering if the longest-servicing Speaker in the nation finally has a chink in his armor.
Nothing much is going to change in Springfield until Speaker Madigan departs. A few Democrats think he should because of his slow handling of harassment complaints against a couple of his aides. So is Madigan becoming vulnerable?
Bob Daiber, one of the Democrats for governor, doesn’t think so, noting “His support for his members of the General Assembly I think will remain strong. And I don’t know that the races that he’ll be sponsoring, helping to get legislators re-elected will be vulnerable.”
But there is a drip, drip, drip quality in the Madigan controversy that is not going away.
