(CHICAGO) The four-time felon accused of killing Chicago Police Commander Paul Bauer has entered a plea to a 56-count indictment. Shomari Legghette has pleaded not guilty to murder, weapons, and drug charges in connection with the shooting death of Commander Paul Bauer, in the Loop, last month.
Among those in court for Legghette’s arraignment Monday: Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson and a dozen other uniformed officers.
Even though Legghette’s lawyers objected, Cook County Judge Erica Reddick has granted prosecutors’ request to sign an order prohibiting the public release of potential evidence in the case.
Legghette is being held without bond.
