(CHICAGO) There’s a new flap in the campaign for Cook County Board President and some are calling kind of comical.
The morning after the 2016 election, the abandoned county car of Preckwinkle’s bodyguard was found with a lot of campaign literature in it.
Challenger Bob Fioretti wants the U.S. Attorney to investigate, “It has been and is a political cover-up of what is happening in Cook County.”
So what does Preckwinkle say? “The IG is investigating this matter and we are co-operating.”
So, what exactly happened? “The IG is investigating and we always co-operate. There is no report yet.”
Was she (Preckwinkle) aware of this? “The IG is investigating and we are co-operating and that’s what I have to say.”
What about Fioretti’s charge of a cover-up? Preckwinkle says, “The IG is investigating this matter (tapping podium) and we always co-operate with the IG. Anything else?”
When pressed, Preckwinkle added, “You can try whatever you want, that’s all I’m gonna say!”
