(CHICAGO) Governor Rauner’s challenger JB Pritzker today introduced five people he says Rauner has failed. One of them attempted to connect Rauner to veteran suicides.
JR Hudson of Red Bud says he did three tours of combat duty as an Army paratrooper. He says budget cuts to programs for veterans under Rauner the the General Assembly have contributed to suicides by veterans, saying “The services that these vets need has caused a lot of veterans suicides, maybe not directly, but they haven’t been able to get the services they need after they serve their country.”
Pritzker was asked if he agrees with that and said “You see a lot of adverse consequences of the fact that Bruce Rauner has been unwilling to fund a budget.”
Rauner, on the other hand, frequently says veterans are heroes and he does all he can to support them.
