(CHICAGO) The left-wing Grassroots Collaborative held a news conference to demand a Community Benefits Agreement before Jeff Bezos is allowed to choose Chicago for Amazon’s second headquarters.
So it appears not everybody is for welcoming Amazon to Chicago. Amisha Patel, the leader of the Grassroots Collaborative, held a stunt here at the hall. She interviewed a costumed Alexa to mock Amazon, “Hey, Alexa, what is the net worth of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos?
Alexa: “$116.8 billion.”
Patel: “So, Alexa, how much does that average warehouse job pay at Amazon?”
Alexa: “$13 an hour.”
Chicago has reportedly offered Amazon a package of incentives topping $2 billion, but New Jersey’s package is over 8 billion and one of the sites around Washington DC may win because that’s where Bezos is building a mansion.
