(CHICAGO) In the race for mayor, Rahm Emanuel isn’t playing defense anymore.
Emanuel took the bait a few months ago and hit back at Paul Vallas on city finances, but not anymore.
When asked what he thinks of Vallas, Garry McCarthy and Willie Wilson making a pact not to criticize each other in order to raise the chances for a runoff, Rahm pivoted.
“There’s an election in November. I’m focused on making sure there’s a change in the State of Illinois. And given that we’ve had a governor who since Day 1 came after the City of Chicago, the most important thing you can do as mayor and the city’s future is make sure we have a Democratic governor who’s an ally of the city.”
So, does he feel ganged-up on?
“Not like a I feel right about now about being ganged up on, no, I don’t. I’m focused on the job, focused on what I have to do. There’ll be plenty of time for a campaign. Now is not one of them.”
