(CHICAGO) Former Chicago Police Board President Lori Lightfoot made it official today by announcing for mayor of Chicago.
Lightfoot was introduced as a “movement moment” mayor who will end Rahm Emanuel’s “Game of Thrones governing style.”
Lightfoot’s strongest shot at Rahm was asked if she doesn’t deserve an “ingrate” label having taken the platform the mayor gave her to now run against him, “I don’t think the mayor gave me anything. Okay? I stand here today because of my family, my friends and my hard work. I didn’t get here because somebody gave me anything.”
The suprise at the Lightfoot announcement was the stagecraft. Her handlers put her behind a too-tall podium making the diminuitive candidate look less important on TV.
