(CHICAGO) Civilian oversight of the Chicago Police Department is now being debated and the president of the Fraternal Order of Police is taking a hard line.
At the City Club, Kevin Graham said he’s not against oversight in any agency, but civilian oversight of the police department is a problem.
“If you were going in for an operation, if you had a heart attack and you were going in for a by-pass, I don’t think you’re gonna call an electrician to perform that operation,” says Graham.
Indeed, city hall is not going to give control of the police department to civilians, but some sort of additional civilian advisory role is probably coming. bc
