(GENEVA, IL) — An Aurora man faces a 33-year- mandatory prison sentence for sexually assaulting a child he knew over a five-year period.
A Kane County jury has found 30-year-old Arturo Sanchez guilty of predatory criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony, 6 counts criminal sexual assault, and 6 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
Prosecutors say that between April 2011 and February 2016, Sanchez sexually assaulted and sexually abused two victims.
In addition to a possible 33-year- prison term, Sanchez must register for life as a sexual offender.
“Adults who take advantage of relationships to sexually assault children belong in prison. These children showed great bravery in reporting Mr. Sanchez’s abusive and criminal behavior. My thanks to those who appropriately alerted authorities about Mr. Sanchez, to ASAs Lori Schmidt and Matt Rodgers, to the Aurora Police Department, and to the investigators and advocates at the Kane County Child Advocacy Center who worked hard to bring Mr. Sanchez to justice,” said Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon.
Sanchez remains in the Kane County jail. Sentencing is set for July 17.
