(CHICAGO) A reminder for some Metra commuters: A new schedule kicks in, on Monday, for those who ride Metra’s Burlington Northern Santa Fe line.
Metra says the BNSF line schedule had to be revised because of the demands of the new federally mandated Positive Train Control safety system.
Under PTC rules, the crew of a train must initialize the system before each individual run. That process is expected to take about six minutes increasing the time it takes for a train to complete its run and turn around to start another.
The schedule of many trains had to be adjusted for increased turn times, and those changes, in turn, affected nearly all other trains on the schedule.
Again…the new BNSF Line schedule goes into effect on Monday and you can find out more at metrarail-dot-com.
