(CHICAGO) In the race for mayor, challenger Garry McCarthy called reporters to the mayor’s office door at City Hall.
McCarthy’s first day back to City Hall since the mayor fired him in December of 2015, noting “Spent so much time here I feel pretty comfortable. As a matter of fact I might go measure the curtains just to see what it looks like today!”
McCarthy vowed to reduce crime and corruption but in a bit of a long reach, he tried to compare one of the mayor’s policies to separating families at the Mexican border, saying “You can compare what’s happening at the Mexican border right now breaking up families. Unconscionable. As unconscionable as closing schools and pulling social services from the individuals who need it the most.”
McCarthy also suggested an official misconduct investigation in the LaQuan McDonald family legal settlement.
