(CHICAGO) — A Chicago law firm has filed a lawsuit on behalf of two former Blackhawks players.

Corboy & Demetrio has filed a lawsuit on behalf of Daniel Carcillo, who won two Stanley Cups for the Chicago Blackhawks, and Nick Boynton, who was part of the Blackhawks 2010 Stanley Cup team.

The lawsuit says the NHL withheld information on CTE.

Attorney and spokesman Bill Gibbs tells Big John and Ray that even with all the publicity, particularly with the NFL, players – playing through concussions – is still a big problem…

“We still see it in the NHL where when we’re watching a game a player is obviously been concussed, and continues to play, ” Gibbs said. “We still see it in the NHL where a player is obviously concussed and continues to play and that’s a huge, huge problem.”

Both former Hawks players claim they suffered repeated concussive and sub-concussive brain injuries throughout their careers and that they were never warned of the significant risk of brain damage because the League withheld the information from them and other players of their era.

In 2013, the first class action lawsuit was filed against the NHL by more than 20 former players. That lawsuit is still ongoing and will be joined by this latest suit in Minnesota district court.
