(CHICAGO) The architectural design is out for the redevelopment of Union Station and officials are saying it’s still a work in progress.
Looks like the Northbrook Library landed on the Union Station head house in the current proposal.
Brendan Reilly, the downtown alderman who could block it, says he’s gotten a lot of reaction both pro and con, saying “Placing a modern addition on that building seems like the best path. As far as the final product, we have some more work to do with design issues and traffic”.
Cameron: “Any chance you’d reject it on account of ugliness?”
Reilly: “Well, ya know, beauty’s in the eye of the beholder. We heard last night in the community meeting, people had different opinions. Some thought it looked brilliant, others thought it looked terrible.”
An earlier rendition was even more controversial, but even this one is expected to undergo changes.
