(CHICAGO) A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against the city and police officer Sheldon Thrasher for the June 6th police killing of Maurice Granton, Jr.
An open question is whether Granton shot at police before running away. In any case, the suit says Granton had both hands on a fence he was trying to scale when he was shot in the back by police.
Interesting about the case is that plaintiff lawyer Tony Romanucci says it IS about the money, “First it becomes about justice and secondly it is about the money because you would hope that the City of Chicago has a tipping point where they say enough money from the taxpayers is enough! But that hasn’t happened yet.”
But Granton’s father has a different take.
“This is about justice for my son and all the other peoples’ sons who go thru this: fathers, brothers, uncles only in our community.”
