A new rule is banning all smoking in or near public housing across the U.S.
The rule was passed by the Obama administration back in 2016 and went into effect on July 31st.
It bans smoking up to 25 feet away from all public housing and administrative office buildings.
The restrictions do not apply to e-cigarettes and chewing tobacco. HUD says the new policy will prevent the effects of secondhand smoke and also encourage residents to stop smoking.
