(CHICAGO) So, what’s next for mayor now that Rahm Emanuel has taken himself out of the running?
Rahm Emanuel jumped in out of the blue with big money when Richard Daley said he wouldn’t run again at this time of year in 2010. Two presidents and a speaker quickly issued statements this time as tho those statements had already been written ahead of time. Barack Obama and big money may be drafting somebody like his pal Valerie Jarrett or Lisa Madigan.
Alderman Ed Burke, an old hand at Chicago politics, cautions that it’s very early. Burke has always wanted the job of mayor and his reputation with the black community during the Council Wars of the 1980s when Harold Washington was mayor is ancient history, so who knows?
