During a 45 minute speech in front of a quiet audience on the Senate floor, Maine Senator Susan Collins announced that she would vote to confirm Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
Collins meticulously stated her case on why Kavanaugh wasn’t out of the judicial mainstream. She also said that while she believed Christine Blasey-Ford had been sexually assaulted, she didn’t believe the case was made for Kavanaugh being her assailant.
In addition, West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin announced that he would support the Kavanaugh nomination. He made his announcement just moments after Collins finished her speech on the Senate floor.
