The Chinese government says Interpol President Meng Hongwei is under investigation for possible corruption.
Meng was reported missing by his wife after he disappeared shortly after flying to China from France. Meng’s wife had reportedly received a text message from her husband with an image of a knife, indicating he might be in danger.
China’s anti-corruption agency now says Meng is under investigation for ‘suspected violations of law’. On Sunday, Interpol said Meng, who also serves as China’s vice minister of public safety, has resigned from the international law enforcement agency.
