(CHICAGO) In the race for governor, Bruce Rauner and his challenger JB Pritzker had their final debate Thursday night on WGEM-TV in Quincy where 14 people died from Legionaries disease.
Rauner actually apologized to the families of the victims and said nobody’s perfect, but he said Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s grand jury investigation is shameful politics.
Pritzker accused Rauner of a six-day cover-up of the crisis.
Pritzker was repeatedly asked to reveal his proposed graduated income tax rates, but he again refused, which gave Rauner a big opening, “Mr. Pritzker dodges questions like he dodges his taxes.”
Pritzker: “You put money in the Cayman Islands!”
Rauner: “He won’t answer this question because he knows the middle class is gonna get crushed!”
Pritzker, by the way, came out in favor of raising the minimum wage in stages to $15 an hour and Rauner said he’s willing to raise it some but only in exchange for reforms.
