Steve Penny, former CEO of USA Gymnastics, had his family vacation to their Tennessee cabin end abruptly after getting arrested by U.S. Marshals.
Penny had no clue that he had been indicted in Texas on allegations of tampering with evidence tied to the Larry Nassar sexual abuse case.
Nassar, former physician for the Olympic gymnastics team, pleaded guilty to child pornography and sexual abuse charges and is currently in prison for life.
Tampering with evidence is a felony that could lead to up to 10 years in prison for Penny.
The investigation against Penny is ongoing with assistant district attorney Stephanie Stroud saying, “If we get other information and we gain access to records and things, there may be other charges.”
