Not exactly sure how this even got approved but an advertisement seeking “Caucasian mature age men” to play the role of Santa in the land down under has been taken down following online outrage.
The job posting asked prospective applicants to send in a “photo and any relevant previous experience to be considered for an interview” for the $40-$50 an hour gig at shopping centers around the Australian city of Adelaide.
But a spokeswoman for the hiring company Essential Talent claims the want-ad was “doctored” and that she didn’t add the ethnic qualifier.
Meanwhile the ad went viral anyway, with many asking on Twitter, “why can’t there be a black Santa?”
