(CHICAGO) The top Illinois Attorney General candidates, Democrat Kwame Raoul and Republican Erica Harold, debated on channel 11 Monday night.
The Attorney General’s office brings actions against utilities when they misbehave but both Raoul and Harold have taken big campagn contributions from some of them. Here’s how they justify that:
Harold: “The only contributions that I wouldn’t take would be ones where you have litigation in front of the attorney general’s office. Since there was no litigation in front of the office, it was not a conflict of interest.”
Raoul: “I’ve been in office for 24 years. There’s never been a campaign contribution that’s dictated how I act.”
Both of these candidates have big followings and this race is too close to predict.
