The experience that voters have at the polls depends on the state that they are voting in and what direction that state leans politically.
There are political scientists that believe that making the voting process easier would allow for a more accurate representation of the country rather than only representing those that vote at higher rates.
Political scientist Adam Bonica says, “Equalizing turnout across the population would be the single best thing we could do for our democracy, and probably for our country in the near term.”
Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar has written legislation that would make states utilize automatic voter registration, “If you start making the case that this would be an easier way to guarantee the freedom to vote, I think you could make some headway.”
