A former high-ranking Goldman Sachs banker has pleaded guilty in connection with a massive Malaysian finance scandal.
Tim Leissner pleaded guilty to money laundering charges tied to Malaysia’s “1MDB” scandal, which involved former Prime Minister Najib Razak embezzling more than $700 million from the government to fund his lavish lifestyle.
Ironically, some of that stolen money was used to help finance the movie The Wolf Of Wall Street.
Leissner will have to forfeit $44 million as part of his guilty plea.
