There have been two “insider attacks” in Afghanistan this month, the most recent resulted in the death of Utah Mayor Brent Taylor.
39-year-old Taylor leaves a wife and seven children behind.
“I hate this. I’m struggling for words,” said Utah Lt. Governor Spencer Cox. “I love Mayor Taylor, his amazing wife Jennie and his seven sweet kids. Utah weeps for them today.”
These attacks are creating division between U.S. military and Afghan forces.
Penn State Professor James Piazza says, “If U.S. military personnel, sent to Afghanistan to help support and train Afghan forces, don’t trust their Afghan counterparts, it’s hard to imagine that our support will be very effective.”
