Study Finds New HIV Drug 99 Percent Effective

A recent study done by Zion Medical has found that a new HIV drug called Gammora can wipe out up to 99 percent of infected cells in humans.

“The drug triggers the self-destruction of the infected cell called apoptosis. It has the potential to cure HIV-infected patients by destroying all cells carrying the HIV genome,” said Dr. Esmira Naftali.

Patients were given Gammora along with either lopinavir or ritonavir. The combination destroyed 99 percent of the virus in just four weeks time without any adverse side effects.

“We are excited to prove the efficiency of our drug in phase 2b with a greater number of participants over a longer period of time,” Dr. Naftali said.
