The hunt for a man accused of kidnapped a North Carolina toddler has ended only hours after it began.
Maurice Cox, 57, was taken into custody Sunday afternoon after he crashed his vehicle in Charlotte, police say.
Cox is accused of abducting 3-year-old Destiny Boykins hours earlier from her family’s apartment in Gastonia. The kidnapping prompted a national Amber alert and manhunt for Cox.
Boykins has been safely recovered. Police have not indicated whether she was with Cox at the time of the crash.
