Rainy weather over the weekend forced President Donald Trump to cancel an appearance at a ceremony to commemorate WWI veterans in France. At least that’s the official word from the White house.
But a number of officials aren’t buying the excuse. Among them is Brit Nicholas Soames, a member of Parliament and a grandson of Winston Churchill, who’s calling Trump “pathetic” and “inadequate.”
Another critic is Ben Rhodes, former U.S. deputy security adviser. He tweeted, “I helped plan all of President Obama’s trips for 8 years. There is always a rain option. Always.”
Apparently, there was a “rain option” for Chief of Staff John Kelly, who attended the ceremony in Trump’s place.
