
It can be quite awkward when a doctor checks a male patient for testicular cancer, but that doesn’t have to be the case with the Testimatic.
“[The man] goes in there, pulls the curtain around, drops his pants…and the hand comes out and checks the testicles,” says Graeme Woodside of Testicular Cancer New Zealand.
In New Zealand, testicular cancer is the most prevalent cancer in young men and can treated if it is detected in the early stages.
“There’s no eye contact,” says Woodside. “It only takes 15 to 20 seconds.”
The booth is aiming at making anxiety associated with getting checked for this type of cancer disappear.
