A woman is dead after she was shot through her door’s peephole.
Wendy Martinez, 45, was in her Bronx apartment Saturday when she responded to a knock on her door at 11:45 p.m., police say. She was peering through the peephole when someone held a gun to it and fired.
Martinez’s 14-year-old son, who witnessed the incident, ran into his bedroom and called 9-1-1. Martinez was pronounced dead on the scene.
While police are holding off on releasing specific details of the murder, they say Martinez was not the gunman’s intended target.
