According to a new UN report, most countries are falling well short of the climate change goals spelled out in the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement.
The agree,emt calls for a 2 degree Celsius reduction in average global temperature. But the report claims that global CO2 emissions are actually going up, with 53.5 gigatons of CO2 released into the atmosphere in 2017.
A two-degree increase in global temperature could have a disastrous effect on the environment. The world is currently on pace to see a 3.2 degree increase by 2100.
President Trump pulled out of the Paris Climate Agreement last year, and recently said he didn’t believe a report from the U.S. government that said climate change is getting worse.
