(CHICAGO) At City Hall Wednesday, a City Council hearing into the Chicago Public Schools sexual predator scandal turned into a gripe session by the aldermen.
CPS CEO Janis Jackson sent a panel of bureaucrats to assure the aldermen they’re on the case, but Alderman Susan Sadlowski-Garza wondered how’d it happen in the first place.
“How did these kids fall thru the cracks? Who dropped the ball? That’s the big question. That’s the big elephant in the room. I mean you guys are forming all these new offices and all these new things. Fund a counselor and a social worker in every school. That’s what CPS needs to do, not open another office of space manager.
And Ald. Ray Lopez doubted that CPS is equipped to deal with sex abuse in the future.
