(CHICAGO) In the race for mayor, Bill Daley has put a COMMUTER TAX on his list of new revenues that need to be considered.
Daley told a sold-out crowd at the City Club that new revenues like a casino, recreational marijuana and a commuter tax need to be considered.
I asked him why he’s putting a commuter tax on the list.
“I believe it should be on the table. I’m not gonna lay out the specifics because I haven’t endoresed it yet. But, we’re studying each of those ideas because there’s no doubt there has to be a combination of things done here. And the world’s changing!”
Big picture, Daley says we need to get Chicago back to 3 million people in ten years so that we can grow our way out of the city’s problems with a bigger tax base. He also said we’ve got to solve gangs and guns with more gun control and prevention programs or the city’s future is “bleak.” at city hall
