Star 102.1 in Cleveland, Ohio, has decided to take advice from their listeners and pulled the song, “Baby It’s Cold Outside” from their station.
In a post on their website, they state, “We used to play the song ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’, but you’re the C hristmas E xecutive O fficer at Star 102 and you told us it’s no longer appropriate.”
The post continues, “I gotta be honest, I didn’t understand why the lyrics were so bad… Until I read them,” with the lyrics from the 1944 hit posted below.
Star 102 also has an online poll allowing a listener to cast a vote on whether or not it should be played, and references #MeToo as an influence in giving women the place they deserve to be heard, including their opinions on the song.
