John Dingell served in Congress for over 59 years – more than any other American. And the 92-year-old says the best way to fix Congress would be to get rid of the Senate.
Dingell, who served in Michigan from 1955 to 2015, says the Senate gives “disproportionate weight” to tiny states like Alaska or Rhode Island, who get the same number of votes as giants like Texas or California.
Dingell says the problem would be solved by combining the House and Senate into one chamber. He also called for the U.S. to do away with the Electoral College.
